Named after Sir Walter Raleigh, the city of Raleigh is known as the capital city of North Carolina as well as being one of the fastest growing cities in the country. There are three historical cities that make up what residents refer to as “The Triangle”—Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill. Raleigh is a rich cultural and historical city. The NHL’s Carolina Hurricanes are the city’s only professional sports team. However, the city is home to the AA minor league baseball team the Carolina Mudcats and the AAA Durham Bulls. The city also hosts the PGA’s Tour Rex Open.
